A scholar from Lang Lang International Music Foundation and a junior student at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Chun-Shing Peter LEUNG, age 16, is one of the most promising young pianists in Hong Kong.
Beginning the piano studies at age 4, he entered the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts five years later after claiming top prizes at local competitions, and studied under Professor Eleanor Wong ever since. He earned the ATCL diploma from Trinity College London, and was elected as an outstanding teenager of the Hong Kong Outstanding Teens Election 2018 Award.
Chun Shing has been engaging internationally. He played at the Oxford University Piano Festival (UK), the Chicago Young Artists Summit (US), and twice performed with the MYA Symphony Orchestra in the United States. In 2017, Chun-Shing was invited to perform with Lang Lang and Donnie Yen, celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Hong Kong's Return to the People's Republic of
China. In the same year, Chun-Shing and Lang Lang were invited to play ensembles and solo works at the University of Hong Kong and Polytechnic University. In 2018, Lang Lang and Chun-Shing performed at the
Hanoi National Opera House in Vietnam. In the following year the 13-year-old Chun-Shing was invited to hold solo recitals in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and Hong Kong.
Lately Chun-Shing participated in the recording of "Beethoven 32" upon invitation, and his performance was broadcasted by Radio Television Hong Kong.
Besides performances, Chun-Shing has been the winner at the International Television Competition of the 17th Youth Music Festival in Moscow, Russia; the first prize in the second World Piano Competition in Italy; the champion of the Open Group of the 9th Hong Kong International Youth Performing Arts Festival, and the championship of the Young Pianist Group.
