Peter Leung

Piano

Currently 17, Peter Leung started learning the piano at age 4 and later entered the junior music programme of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, under the tutelage of Professor Eleanor Wong. At age 10 he earned the ATCL diploma from Trinity College London with distinction, and in the same year he was admitted as a young scholar by the Lang Lang Foundation. He was also elected as Hong Kong Outstanding Teens in 2018 among youngsters of his generation.

Peter’s first invaluable experience in music competition was his participation in the “2014 CCTV Piano and Violin Competition, Beijing, China”, where he represented Hong Kong as one of the twenty finalists. In 2016 and 2017, Peter was invited to attend master classes and to perform at the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra Oxford Piano Festival in the University of Oxford, UK, and at the Midway Young Artists Orchestra Music Summer Summit in Chicago, USA.

In 2016, he performed as a guest soloist in the Hong Kong International Piano Competition. In 2017, Peter performed with Lang Lang, and with the kung fu star Donnie Yen in the extravagant gala “20th Anniversary of Hong Kong’s Return to China” held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. He has also been a secondo to Lang Lang at various other occasions in 2017-2018.

Peter has taken part in many regional and international competitions and has received numerous awards, including the Winner Prize of 17th International Television Contest for Young Musicians in Moscow in 2016, and the recent 1st Prize at VIII Tkaczewski International Piano Competition in Poland (2023).
