Ernie KAM, saxophone
Ernie Kam finished his bachelor degree in Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 2017 and going to pursue his master degree in Royal Conservatory of Brussels. Since joining the Academy’s junior programme in 2004, Kam has been recognized as one of the most promising young saxophonists in Hong Kong. Kam was a winner of local and international music competitions namely Competition Léopold Bellan.
While studying at the Academy, Ernie is often invited to perform with professional orchestras in Hong Kong, namely the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, The Hong Kong Wind Philharmonic and Hong Kong Chamber Wind Philharmonic. He has also performed in China, France and at New York’s Carnegie Hall.
Apart from actively involved in local music activities, Kam also took part in international saxophone events, such as American saxophone academy in 2015, Bretagne saxophone academy in 2014 and 2016 , Hong Kong International Symposium in 2009 and 2013 as well as the Taiwan Saxophone Summer Camp in 2006 . He has also taken part in a number of saxophone master classes by respected saxophonists: Claude Delangle, Timophy Mcallister, Otis Murphy, Alexandre Souillart, Joonatan Rautiola, Masato Kumoi etc.
Mia WONG, piano
Born in Hong Kong, twenty one-year- old pianist Mia Wong Sin Hang started playing the piano at the age of four and received her early musical training at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) Junior Music Programme (JMP). During the years in the JMP, she has won in many competitions in the Hong Kong Schools music Festival and performed frequently in department concerts of the academy. She also obtained the Recital Diploma Licentiate of Trinity College London (LTCL) with distinction at the age of 14. After receiving the professional teaching and gaining much performance experience, she continued to study in the academy and she is currently in her third year in the HKAPA. During the years, she benefited much from the tutelage of Ms Yim Wan, and she is now currently studying under Ms Julie Kuok.
Mia has won and participated in several piano competitions including the 21st PIARA Piano Competition in Japan Hamamatsu, the 18th Asia Piano Competition Rachmaninoff Class, 77th Steinway & Sons International Youth Piano Competition and the 67th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival Piano Concerto Competition. She also played in various masterclasses and private lessons held by Paolo Vairo, Robert Sipos-Ori, Ivan Yanakov, Maxim Mogilevsky and Aquiles Delle Vigne. Moreover, Mia has also participated in music composition and was invited by the Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) to have an interview about her composition. In 2018 summer, Mia attended the Rebecca Penneys Piano Festival in Florida, USA and had performed in various venues and concerts.
