Liyan HE, piano
An internationally award-winning pianist, Liyan He has performed at a number of venues worldwide, including Carnegie Hall in New York City, Berkner Hall at Brookhaven National Laboratory in Long Island New York, Teatro Verdi in Pordenone of Italy, Convention Hall at Isrotel’s Royal Beach in Eilat of Israel, Yan Huang Art Museum in Beijing, Shenzhen Concert Hall, Xiamen Hongtai Hall, Shanxi Song and Dance Troupe, Hong Kong Cultural Centre and City Hall, Peiking University Hall, Arizona State University in the United State, Chinese Conservatory of Music, Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Xinghai Conservatory of Music in Guangzhou and Guangxi Arts University.
Hailed as “the young talent from the Far East”, he has worked with veteran conductors Song Gao, Wing-heng Pak, Colin Touchin and Alan Cumberland to perform concertos with Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra, Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Tak Ming Philharmonic Orchestra and the Academy Symphony Orchestra. He was also invited to perform in the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition in Israel, Pianofest in the Hamptons, Beijing Music Festival and Hong Kong Generation Next Arts Music Festival. Recently, his very first album has been released in Italy and broadcast on Radio 3 RAI. He also worked with violinist Felix Wong to play a set of seventeen complete Mozart’s sonatas for piano and violin and they are the first Chinese duo to make such a performance.
He has been trained under the guidance of Jintian Kang of the Shenzhen Arts School, Dr. Zhe Tang of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, renowned Chinese pianist Chengzong Yin and Professor Gabriel Kwok of the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts. He was awarded with Master of Music with Distinction at the HKAPA in 2016.
