Matthieu SACHOT, Tenor
Matthieu Sachot is a French tenor based in Hong Kong, appearing as soloist at the Cultural Center and City Hall Concert Hall over the past 4 years. Matthieu was educated in Lyon, France, as choir member and soloist at the cathedral St Jean, working with choir and orchestra conductor Jean-Francois Duchamp and opera soprano Cecile De Boever. He built an international musical career in Europe, followed by the US and Asia across baroque, classical, opera and modern music, appearing at the Lincoln Center, while cantoring at NY Saint Patrick’s cathedral from 2001 to 2006, thereafter in Tokyo at the Suntory Hall, French Embassy, as well as Chanel and Givenchy events, before arriving in Hong Kong.
Matthieu has performed at concerts and private events in Italy, Germany, UK, NY / Connecticut states, Netherland, Switzerland and Spain, took part in TVs shows in France and was tenor soloist for the night of the millennium on Saint Peter’s place, Vatican. Matthieu worked under the baguette of world-reknown Peter Phillips in October 2017 in Hong Kong, and beforehand with Anthony Newman and Andrew Parrott. He returns to Musica Del Cuore series with a full new set of classical masterpieces from major composers around the “Prelude” theme.

Po-Yi TANG, piano
Po-Yi Tang graduated from the Royal College of Music, London with Master in Piano Performance and studied with Andrew Ball. She graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong where she studied with Mei-Ling Wong. Awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Schools of Music (FRSM) in piano performance, Po-Yi received a number of scholarships; including the Jardine Matheson Fund sponsored by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), the Dean’s List of the Faculty of Arts from the CUHK. As the eighth recipient of Asian Cultural Council’s AIA Foundation Music Scholarship, Po-Yi gained a full scholarship to attend the Aspen Music Festival School in Colorado where she studied with Dr. Jean-David Coen.
Po-Yi is an active performer who is keen about ensemble music and piano accompaniment. She has been active in performing chamber music and duo accompaniment throughout Europe, North America and Asia. She was invited to perform with the Hong Kong Juvenile & Youth Chinese Classical Orchestra conducted by Chi-Chung Ho at the Concert Hall of Hong Kong City Hall in Jan 2016. She premiered the piano concerto on the Cheung Chau Jiao Festival “Floating Instants” composed by Man-Hin Ho at the concert “Floating Colours of Chinese Music” organized by CCC & Music Friends.
In Aug 2015, Po-Yi held a lecture-recital “Pianist & Soloist- The Art of Communications” with French tenor Matthieu Sachot at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre organized by the Hong Kong International Pianists’ Association. It was featured in the 3rd Hong Kong International Piano Performance & Educational Conference which was open to public. The theme was how piano accompanist works with vocalist. She performed both art songs and operatic works with Matthieu. Furthermore, she joined the production of a French one-woman poetic stage play named “Je danse toujours” (“I keep dancing”), produced by the Hong Kong Theatre Association Ltd. as the stage pianist.
Apart from piano performance, Po-Yi also devotes herself to charity music events as well as other dynamic music activities. As firm believers of animal rights, Po-Yi and Vincent Ip gave their premier performance at the HKAPA to raise fund for Lifelong Animal Protection Charity in Dec 2013. The recital received great acclaim and was featured in the South China Morning Post. Also, she has been invited by Parsons Music Corporation to organise her student concert on behalf of Kawai Project, with Medecins Sans Frontieres being the beneficiary. Furthermore, she performed at the concert series of “Music for the Children” and raised funds for children at Cambodia and Nepal. She also held a talk at the Hong Kong Society For the Blind for blind piano tuners and being the adjudicator of several piano competitions.
Po-Yi is an experienced piano teacher and piano accompanist; she is currently the Director of Administration of the Hong Kong International Pianists’ Association.
