Carlos TANG is currently a final-year student of the Hong Kong Baptist University and majoring in piano performance. He started playing at the age of 5, becoming an Associate of Trinity College London at 12 and later a Licentiate at 14 under the tutelage of Mr. Ng Dao Wei.
After taking the International Baccalaureate Examination, Carlos entered the Associate Degree in Music Studies at the College of International Education and started studying piano with Dr. Helen Cha, and was later admitted into the undergraduate programme at Hong Kong Baptist University where he continued his piano studies with Mr. Raymond Young. Aside from piano performance, he also receives vocal training from Dr. Melody Sze and studies viola with Mr. Ray Choi.
Carlos has performed actively since he was a secondary school student. He was the accompanist of Yew Chung International School choir and has performed with the school orchestra. He is now a member of Hong Kong Baptist Unviersity Choir and also one of its official accompanists.
Besides school activities and performances, Carlos also claimed top prizes at several Hong Kong and Asian piano competitions, including the first runner-up at Hong Kong Schools Music Festival Gold Medal Open Class, the first prize of “Chopin Prize” from 17th Hong Kong-Asia Piano Open Competition (2012) and Hong Kong Performing Community of Arts Piano Competition.
