Born and raised in Macao, Monic CHEN began studying the piano at the age of five. Her major mentors include Dr. Leong Hio Meng and Mr. São Gregório Wan Hok Meng. She is currently studying with Professor Choi Sown Le at the Polytechnic Institute Music Department in Macao. Additional Studies were with Professor Li Ming Qiang, Professor Eleanor Wong, Professor Bao Hui Qiao , Mr. Jeremy Carter, Mr. Chu Wang Hua, Mr. Ivan Yanakov in masterclasses.
CHEN was given performances with various chamber groups, as well as being featured as a soloist. She was invited to perform in the Coimbra University, Leira Polytechnic Institute and Lisbon University in Portugal, Wuhan Conservatory of Music and Central China Normal University. She attended the exchange performance of National University of Tainan and performed in Celebration Concert of Transfer of Sovereignty over Macao Cultural Festival in 2014. CHEN also played excerpts of Yellow River Concerto broadcasting in CCTV China. She has been performed over 200 shows locally from 2009-2015. She was the winner of the Lotus Cup Macao Youth Piano Competition and Macau Young Musicians Competition.
As an active collaborative pianist and chamber music ensemble player, CHEN is the vice-president of the Macao Ensemble Association and the director of Macao Youth Music Promotion Association. She is also the piano accompanist of Macao Cultural Centre Children’s choir and Macao Polytechnic Institute’s choir.
Besides from performance, CHEN also participating in music production for Concurso Escolar de Teatro and films. One of her works has been the finalist of the official trophy in the international Euro Film Festival.
