Camille POON, violin
Started learning the violin at the age of six with renowned violinist Ms. Jue Yao, Camille Poon has been a recipient of numerous scholarships and won the Third Prize in the 14th Osaka International Music Competition as well as the Gold Award of the Hong Kong Bauhinia Cup Strings Competition 2012. She has performed as a soloist with various orchestras in Hong Kong and is also a frequent performer in master classes of world-renowned musicians including Kyung Sun Lee, Glenn Dicterow, Earl Carlyss, Lewis Kaplan, Alissa Margulis and Daniel Gaede. She attained the Fellowship of the Trinity Guildhall at the age of 15 as well as the Fellowship of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music a year after. She then earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and a Master of Music in Violin Performance at the Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University Bloomington under the tutelage of Prof. Kevork Mardirossian.
As the second violinist of the Cong Quartet, Camille worked closely with the Pacifica Quartet in the Quartet Seminar of the Jacobs School of Music of Indiana University. She has played in the masterclasses and received coachings from Shanghai Quartet, Pacifica Quartet, Arianna Quartet and members of Miami Quartet, Juilliard Quartet etc. She won prizes in the 1st Alice & Eleonore Schoenfeld International String Competition Chamber Division.
Besides, she is an active orchestral musician. She had been the concertmasters of Pro Arte Orchestra of Hong Kong, Chung Chi Orchestra of Chinese University of Hong Kong and was the principal second violin in Indiana University Concert Orchestra. She has also played in the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra and Columbus Indiana Philharmonic Orchestra as well. Camille is currently a violinist of the Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra in Japan.
Alexander WONG, piano
Alexander Wong is an active and versatile collaborative keyboard performer. His major mentors include Dr. Mary Wu, Jeffie Leung in piano studies, and Kin-Yu Wong in organ playing. During his studies at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, he was honoured on the Chung Chi College’s Head List, awarded the Departmental Prize and placed in the Arts Faculty Dean’s List. After obtaining his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music (First Class Honour) in 2012, he furthered his studies under Dr. Jean Barr at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, where he graduated from the Master of Music programme in Piano Accompanying and Chamber Music.
Alexander participated in various master classes including those given by cellist Steven Isserlis, pianists Graham Johnson amd Kirill Gerstein, and the Tetzlaff Quartet. In 2014, he joined the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival as a collaborative pianist in the Voice Programme. He has also collaborated with various choirs such as Eastman School of Music Repertory Singers, Robert Westleyan College Chorale, the Chinese University of Hong Kong Chorus, Cantacore Society, the Hong Kong Oratorio Society and the Hong Kong Youth Choir.
Alexander is currently the répétiteur of Die Konzertisten, MusiCall, Ponte della Musica – Voce sul Ponte, Young Vocalists and Musica Viva (sponsored by Hong Kong Arts Development Council’s “Music Artistic Internship Scheme”).
