Crystal LAM began studying piano at the age of five. She obtained the Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Kansas in 2014. She received her Master of Music degree at Texas Christian University and Bachelor degree at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Her teachers include Dr. Jack Winerock, Dr. Scott McBride Smith, Dr. Tamás Ungár, and Mr. Gabriel Kwok. Lam has won numerous prizes, including the Kansas State,West Central Division and National winner of the Music Teacher National Association Piano Young Artist Competition in 2013; Grand Prize at the Naftzger Young Artist Competition in 2012, first prize at the Asian Youth Music Competition in Shanghai in 2006, and second prize at the 2005 International Chopin Piano Competition in Tokyo. She was twice the winner in the Concerto Competition at the HKAPA in 2003 and 2008, and performed with the Academy Symphony Orchestra. She was selected as the winner of the KU Concerto Competition and performed with the KU Symphony Orchestra in 2011.
She was also awarded scholarships including the Robert H.N. Ho Family Foundation; the Lady Fung Memorial Music Fellowship of the Asian Cultural Council; the Bernard van Zuidan Music Fund Scholarship; the Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity, and the Kansas City Musical Club.
Lam is actively engaged in chamber music. She was invited to perform new music in Macau by the Cultural Institute in 2007. She received the Judith Soloman Piano Award in Chamber Music at TCU in 2009-10. She is a member of the Wakarusa trio, formed in 2012. The trio won the Music Teachers National Association national championship in 2013 and Coleman-Barstow Prize for Strings at the Coleman Chamber Competition in 2014.
Eric YIP received his Bachelor of Music degree from the HKAPA under the tutelage of Ray Wang and his Master’s degree from the Chicago College of Performing Arts under John Sharp and Richard Hirschl. He was the principal cellist of the Pacific Music Festival Orchestra as well as a regular member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. He was one of the scholarship recipients of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund. Yip has participated in the Hong Kong Arts Festival, the International Menuhin Music Academy, Asian Youth Orchestra, Canton International Summer Music Academy and the Kirishima International Music Festival. He is currently cellist of Hong Kong Sinfonietta and is one of the founding members of the Romer String Quartet. He is also a cello coach of the Macao University Orchestra.
