ZHENG Yang, violin
ZHENG Yang, the first violin of the Gloucester String Quartet, received his bachelor degree with first class honor at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) in 2014.
At HKAPA, Zheng was the concertmaster of the Academy Symphony Orchestra, and has twice won the concerto competition and played as the solo violin in the winner concerts. He was also selected to perform at a number of master classes organized by the academy and the Hong Kong Art Festival with violinist like Cho-Liang Lin, Leonidas Kavakos, Renaud Capuçon.Zheng participated twice in the Kent/Blossom Music Festival in 2011 and 2012, and in the performance with the Cleveland Orchestra.
Alongside his dedication in solo performances, Zheng is very devoted to chamber performances. His Gloucester String Quartet received first prize in the Schonefled International String Competition in 2013. In 2015, thequartet represented the HKAPA to perform in a 10 days tour in the Royal Academy of Music, Wells Cathedral School in the UK. In 2016, they cooperated with THE HONG KONG NEW MUSIC ENSEMBLE to participate in Tongyeong International Music Festival, Korea. The quartet has also participatedin the McGill International String Quartet Academy, one of the top chamber music festivals in the world, in Montreal the same year.
Zheng is currently studying his master’s degree in the HKAPA under the head of string department professor Michael Ma.
XU Ting, cello
Currently a postgraduate student at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, XU Ting is a native of Wuhan, China. She received her early music training at 4 years on the piano and later with cello in 2002 at the Wuhan Conservatory of Music under Professor LONG Man. XU Ting was admitted to the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 2010 with full scholarship and was awarded the First Honor at the graduation in June 2015. Her other achievements included the Winners of Cello competitions in the Academy, Beijing Great Wall International Music Festival, cross Straight (Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Canton) Cello Competition, China National Cello Competition as well as appearing as soloist with the Academy Symphony Orchestra and the Beijing Radio Symphony Orchestr
XU Ting is a pupil of Professor Ray Wang at the Academy and she also appeared in masterclasses with Professor Yo-Yo Ma, David Geringas, Laurence Lesser, David Finckel, Steven Isserlis, Carter Brey, Onczay Casaba, Bion Tsang, Liwei Qiu, Sadao Harada as well as members of Borodin Quartet, Alban Berg Quartet, Miami String Quartet, Shanghai String Quartet, Chilingirian Quartet and Endellion Quartet.
ZHANG Yue, piano
Yue ZHANG started his piano training at the age of seven. He is currently pursuing his Master degree with scholarship in Hong Kong Academy For Performing Arts under the tutelage of well-known Prof. Gabriel Kwok.
He has won 1st Prize at HKGNA music competition Young Artists Division and Silver prize (General Category) at the 14th International Piano Competition in Asia(Tokyo). As a soloist, Yue has collaborated with the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, Academy Symphony Orchestra, Xiamen Symphony Orchestra and Hong Kong Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra, and has appeared with conductors including Shu-cheng Shi, Daye Lin, Alan Cumberland, etc.
2014 he was invited to make his debut concert in Italy, and Release CD named “Hong Kong Piano Marathon Stadium” and the concert was broadcasted to cities in Europe by classical music channel radio 3 Rai. In 2015, he made his debut at New York Carnegie Weill Hall. The performance was sold to a packed house and Yue received a rousing standing ovation. In the past seasons, he has given performances in major venues, such as Sala Cecilia Meireles, Rio de jeneiro, Hong Kong City Hall, Jockey Club Amphitheatre, American Consulate, Shantou University, Shenzhen Concert Hall, Shenzhen Poly-Theatre. His chamber music experiences include collaborative performances with violist Richard Yongjae O’Neill, Violinists Jin Wang and Hyuna Kim, and Cellist Richard Bamping.
He has participated in master classes of Dang Thai Son, Russell Sherman, Hung-Kuan Chen, Aquiles Delle Vigne, Jerome Lowenthal and Anton Kuerti etc. Yue is the awardee of the Talent Development Scholarship from The HKSAR Government and YAMAHA Scholarship.
